Not A Number | Dystopian EP
Not A Number is a concept EP of instrumental electronic music born from the collaboration between Kindread Project and Demiurgo.
Not a Number: the dystopian concept
Set in a dystopian future, the EP takes us into a world where sound has become a tool of control and surveillance by the corporation NüMind Industries. The story follows an underground collective of hackers, called ‘Not A Number’ (NaN), who discover the hidden potential of audio sequences capable of awakening extrasensory faculties and unveiling the system’s secret architecture.
NaN begin a battle to liberate the population’s consciousness. Through increasingly disruptive hacks, they fuel the uprising and trigger the gradual collapse of the power structure.
Style
The EP merges melodic lines, industrial structures, IDM/glitch complexity, and retro-futuristic synthwave traits. An immersive and evocative experience where music becomes code, fiction, and a subversive act.
The digital edition
Bandcamp purchase includes unlimited streaming and high-quality download in wave and flac format available in 24-bit/48kHz, and in MP3.
The Authors
Kindread Project (Egidio Abruzzese) and Demiurgo (Paolo Di Pierdomenico) connected through a shared vision: narrative electronics and dystopian aesthetics. Their collaboration began with the track ‘ESP Unlocking’ (2022), quickly evolving into a deeper artistic dialogue. Kindread Project is marked by refined atmospheres and melodic energy, highlighted through direct recordings. Demiurgo is defined by a structured harmonic framework, detailed soundscapes, and industrial rhythms.
Together, the artists map out a new territory, a hybrid space of musical storytelling and cinematic listening.

Press Review
Wonderfully sci-fi, twisted just enough, but above all sinister and unsettling: like every rebellion, like every hint of change. (full review)
We are in the realm of IDM: an artful form of electronic music, often DAWless and built with modular synths […]. Yet one also encounters Jarre-like melodies and an opening strongly reminiscent of Trent Reznor, all interspersed with ambient interludes that keep the narrative thread intact. (full review)
The electronica in Not a Number is aggressive and dark, steeped in indecipherable messages and cerebral sounds that can only elicit singular, never uniform, responses from the listener. The union of these two artists […] will resonate with anyone who loves music when it has the power to tell a story, to evoke images. (full review)
This story, which on its own would already be enough to spark the listener’s imagination, is told through the high craft of electronic music the two artists display, with highly cinematic settings […] Standout tracks include ESP Unlocking, which also features a great dedicated video, System Bugs, and The Ribellion Code, truly powerful pieces. (full review)
It is not just music, but a true dystopian narrative that echoes uneasily with the present. This work is an act of sonic disobedience against conformity and algorithmic control. […] The EP moves skilfully through a complex sonic landscape, blending IDM, glitch, industrial structures, dark ambient and synthwave. (full review)
“Not A Number” is a must-listen EP for electronic music enthusiasts and beyond. The collaboration between Kindread Project and Demiurgo has given life to a unique and captivating work that will take you into a multidimensional, wild and esoteric world, where sound becomes a subversive act and a spark of awakening.
